Desire is the root cause of our anger. We want something we do not get it, we get irritated. The process of negative thinking starts in the mind. We hold the person obstructing the fulfillment of that desire responsible. We want to punish that person. And this starts the process of physical and mental abuses.
Once the anger has manifested itself, a person loses his common sense. He does not have any control on his mind, body or tongue. The result is irrational behavior. When a piece of wood burns it harms itself the most, only the heat reaches outside. Similarly an angry person harms himself the most.
Anger is a big waste of energy. Various poisonous substances are secreted in the body due to imbalance of hormonal secretions. His nervous system gets a severe jolt.
Various diseases high blood pressure, heart diseases, respiratory problems are the result of simmering anger over a long period of time. The person concerned becomes mentally weak unable to concentrate or do any useful work.
Guilt is followed by repentance, which is another big negative energy. It results in all time low self-confidence and low self-esteem.
Anger increases by repetition. Nobody loves angry person. Anger can be effectively controlled by the regular training of the mind. The very first ripple of anger should be curbed; otherwise it becomes extremely difficult to control it. Pranayama, meditation, regular physical workouts keep one cheerful and happy. They also train the mind not to react violently at the slightest provocation. Acceptance comes in as one starts introspecting finding one’s own shortcomings and understanding others’ view points.
