He loses his focus, i.e. hard work, and the gradual decline starts. Everything in the world is impermanent except god. Pride definitely has a fall. Sooner or later, a person comes to terms with this reality. Such persons can never be truly happy because they always keep on comparing themselves with the more successful people. Outwardly, they put up a brave front. But internally they are miserable. Contentment is far away from them. The fear of failure is always lurking in their psyche, thus marring the chance of even a little happiness.
Material success can never lead one to true happiness. Although on the surface one feeds his false ego by the show of luxury, yet he internally is aware of a deep void inside him. Alas! He cannot get true friends and least of all the grace of god. Modernisation is emphasising that materialism, acquisition of wealth and luxuries is the sign of success. If one is able to earn a large amount of money and possesses all the means to leading a luxurious life, e.g. TV, car and a big palatial house, then that person is considered the most successful person. Though money definitely important in life, yet it cannot ensure peace and happiness which are the true landmarks of success.
Truly successful people are those who possess humility as their virtue. They try to help their subordinates by sheer conduct of their own moral strength and character. They derive happiness in helping others rise up the ladder of success step by step. As they get deep respect, they are also blessed by one and all. Happiness and contentment automatically come. They bask in the glory of others’ success and not their own vanity. The deep satisfaction derived on the way gives them immense peace and happiness. Such a success lasts. These people are blessed by god.
