During the Shatchandi Yagna held in Rikhia (dham) Peeth in 2006, the statement that Guru is our closed friend and guide was repeated daily. Rikhia Peeth is the tapasthali of our param pujya guru dev Swami Satyananda. The place is as divine as the divine beings living there. Each and every creation in Rikhia Peeth whether it is living or nonliving is thick with divine vibrations. Only a person blessed by the Almighty can feel the magnitude of divinity throbbing in that peeth.
The day started with Ramayana chanting of a few Dohas of Balkanda during 21st Nov. to 25th Nov. sadhna. After the arti of Ramayana the prayer of guru was being chanted daily and the importance of considering guru as our closest friend and guide was emphasizes. But how many of the disciples consider guru as their closest friend? Guide is fine, But friend? Frienship with the great grand personality of the guru is simply unthinkable. Though I considered myself quite open and frank and honest with guru dev but friendship did not enter even in my mind. And after the Kanyas repeating it daily this message finally sank deeper than I had imagined. And as the idea buried deep, I felt more and more comfortable and at peace with myself. A friend is a person in whom we can confide our deepest fears, weaknesses and strengths. So if we instill the relationship of a friend with our respected guru, who can block our way in the spiritual path? Most of the people who came to attend the Yagna at Rikhia Peeth were great devoteesof Swami Niranjan as well as Swami Satyananda. But they were in so much awe of him. At times, I used to wonder or pity them. Why were they not able to meet Swamiji, let alone discuss their problems with him directly? is it the grace of guru? Which makes a person bold? Or is it the inner honesty of the relation with guru? For the first time, I met Swami Niranjanand Saraswati in Rajnandgaon in 2005. And I never ever was scared of his demeanor. Definitely his greatness affected me deeply but it set my mind right, yes he is the only person to whom I can ask all my doubts and by following his guidance I can attain my aim in life. Now I am sure that gurudev also must be considering each and every disciple as his friend. The only requirement is on the part of disciple to muster courage and has that deep internal longing with intense ‘bhav’. And with my own experience, I can say that disciple will instantly receive that kind assurance, love and grace of the guru which he deserves. Guru is an epitome of love, kindness, who is always eager to help one and all who comes to his abode seeking guidance. So how can he stay away?
Saccha pita Kaun? Sadguru.
This short and simple teaching of Swami Sivananda inspired me to establish a relationship of father with him. And with each passing moment of my spiritual journey he is there as a solid rock, a true father who snubs, reprimands as well as guides me beautifully. And this very support of my great guru is making me surrender slowly and gradually easier, faster.
O’ sadhak break the self made shackles, get rid of your own convictions, opinions and fears. Get in touch with divinity in the form of great guru dev who is the personification of kindness, love, love and love only!
