-Paramhamsa Swami Satyananda
Meditation is the dire necessity of modern world. Meditation relaxes a person both physically & mentally. Gradually with regular practice of meditation, one learns to adapt one self to changes around him. And then gradual process of acceptance of one’s shortcomings sink in. And acceptance of one’s own limitations is the first step towards deep relaxation both physically & mentally. On one side, a person tries to cope with the rapid changes around him & on the other side concentrates on his positive qualities.
“Wake up the mind-” Swami Satyananda
This slogan was given by Sri Swamiji quite a few years back. And this slogan fits perfectly well in today’s scenario. The mental part of yoga can also be called as higher yoga. As with regular practice of a few selected asanas’ one’s body becomes healthy, free of various impurities. And practice of Pranayama and beginners’ practices of meditation make the mind calm and tranquil. Only with a calm and tranquil mind, one starts understanding one’s own strengths and weaknesses. One realizes the futility of high set ambitions and comes to terms with his needs. And then only the journey to happiness starts. A calm, balanced mind is the basic necessity of carrying out any pursuit efficiently.
The saints and sages since time immemorial have been giving importance to study of Vedas, upnishads, Ramayana and Gita recent investigations by scientists have discovered the advantages of vibrations generated by reading these granthas. Even the foreigners from all over the world are coming to India to seek inner peace and happiness by the chanting of various mantras. Both param guru Sivananda & Satyananda have given a lot of importance to chanting of Gita and Ramayana daily. Sri Swami Ji said in his satsang at Rikhia that chanting of Ramayana is capable of all the mental pollution caused by Kama, Krodha, Lobha, jealousy and Moha. Sri Swami Ji has declared ‘ Yajna is much more powerful than any other medicine because its smoke is absorbed directly by the pores of the body. Miracles have happened in those people’s lives who perform Dainik(daily) Yajna’. Another sure short way to remove worries, tensions from mind is to start thinking about others and trying to help them as much as possible.
“God give me enough so that I can give to others.”-Swami Satyananda
With such prayer our inner being gets flourished with God’s grace instantly and abundantly. Let us all get rid of this mental pollution which is the result of our own selfishness, greed, pettiness and hoarding. Let us start giving and sharing what ever we have with others and develop cosmic consciousness!
