The ground is firmly set for running after the material possessions like car, scooter, A.C. etc. the list is endless it becomes a vicious circle.
No physical exercise and eating junk food is a common day occurrence. All this mental pollution leads to physical pollution in the form of diseases. Environmental pollution is also increasing day by day.
Even the small children and old people have become addicts. Storytelling/ listening o good stories/ reading good books are out of vogue. Moral values have become all time low. Even religious books (remain confined in the puja room), magazines and healthy literature are the last on today’s priority list. It is considered a big waste of money.
The zeal and will to work hard to attain success in one’s life by attainment of the goals is fast dwindling. Even if one wants to work, there is no physical and mental energy left. Frustration has become very very common and it definitely leads to depression. It has definitely become a vicious circle out of which even a person when he wants cannot come out. Various psychological problems like violent anger leading to suicide in extreme cases, deep depression, which can cause even cancer have come to exist and many times accepted as one’s destiny. Due to lack of faith in God, strong will, diseases and their aftermath waste precious life.
Yoga offers a very healthy alternative. Various simple asanas if done regularly with sincerety are capable of curing the diseases like cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes and blood pressure. Pranayama like Nadi Shodan and Gunjan, though look simple are extremely effective in abating depression. Surya Namaskar effectively treats laziness not even physically but mentally also. Deep relaxation practices “Yog Nidra”, “Antar mouna” relax a person physically and mentally. Its rejuvenating and energizing effect on the body amaze beginners. If continued they enable a person to find out their shortcomings, strong points and deeper aspects of personality, which were till now, hidden a layer of anger, depression, worry and tension. With passage of time as the vision broadens one learns to differentiate between ones desires and needs and acts accordingly. The priorities shift from material comforts to mental peace and happiness. The moment a person realizes that fountain of peace, happiness and bliss is within him, he stops running after the unnecessary materialistic possessions. And then comes a new dawn for him, which is pursued with patience, and pure mind leads to immortality and eternal peace. He becomes a channel of divine energy, will and source of inspiration for millions of others.
